Review: Cuddledry towels for stress-free bathtime with newborns

The first time we bathed Baby Girl we had the help of maternity consultant Hattie Weeks, who taught us how to do it. Now it seems a bit strange we actually needed a demonstration, but it was super useful at the time.

We were taught how to prepare for bathtime, including squirting baby shampoo on the side of the bath to avoid having to fiddle with any bottles and having the towel ready on a changing mat on the floor.

We carefully followed all the bathing routines we’d been taught every day, and we came to love some of the products we’d bought when shopping for Baby Girl. We’d been advised to get good-sized hooded towels to last, and we were well-equipped with cloths and bathing accessories.

One of the things we used regularly was a wash mitt we’d bought from Cuddledry. It was super soft and practical for bathing newborns, and I loved the material.

That’s why I was also happy to be asked to review the original Cuddledry towel (£29.99) for newborns now, as I knew this was a product I would like to have for my new baby. In recent years, I’ve seen Cuddledry pick up numerous awards for its apron-style towel, which is designed to make bathtime safe and easy.

I could see this style of towel working well in the early days when baby is very little, as it will then be good to have the towel around my neck to keep my hands free for lifting and then quickly dry baby to keep him warm. When he’s bigger, I’m not sure I would use the towel as an apron, but I still think these towels stand out because they’re large, fast-drying and super soft.

Baby Girl used her baby towels for around two years, and since then she moved on to towels with her favourite Disney characters on. That’s why I think the size of baby towels is important to consider to avoid having to replace baby towels early, and to me, the softness and quality of the material is another vital selection criteria for a newborn towel.

The Cuddledry wash mitt we had for Baby Girl in cotton and bamboo remained soft despite us constantly washing it, and I’m assuming we’ll now have the same experience with the Cuddledry towel Baby Boy has been so lucky to receive.
