Daddy T and I never seem to be well enough prepared when taking baby home from hospital. We always seem to have some sort of car seat issue, and both times it’s been related to a newborn baby being smaller than expected.

Last time we had to watch ‘how to’ videos on YouTube to understand how to strap Baby Girl into the car seat, and this time we had to keep pulling over to check on Baby Boy in the back seat.

Daddy T was convinced it was something wrong with the car seat this time, suggesting I had changed something about it since Baby Girl used it as a baby. He seemed small for it despite being bigger than Baby Girl had been when being born.

The short journey home from Chelsea & Westminster Hospital made me really worried about how we would possibly be getting around London the next few weeks. Since I didn’t want to feel stuck at home I started researching ways to solve the issue and was excited about finding the Diono Cuddle Soft product, which I asked to review.

Diono Cuddle Soft, which can be used with infant carriers, car seats or pushchairs and is designed for babies up to 10kg, was exactly what we needed for the car seat, as it works as a soft and cosy infant insert, giving additional support for baby and making the car seat a perfect fit for him.

By adding Diono Cuddle Soft to the infant carrier, Baby Boy was sitting comfortably and it felt much safer to have him in the car. I like that the machine-washable insert has two parts that can be used together or individually, and after Baby Boy turned four weeks we removed the inner insert since he had grown and only needed the outer one to sit right in the seat.
