Review: Especially for You Parties for character-themed London kids birthday party entertainment

On Saturday last week I was the mum who desperately tried to find out the name of the entertainer at a friend’s party. I had realised their Superwoman was from the same company as Elsa, who was coming to us the next day, and I was worried it wouldn’t seem very believable if it was the same person.

But I had nothing to worry about. Superwoman was not Elsa, and Elsa was the real thing. At least that’s what four-year-old Big Girl and her friends seemed to think, asking questions about how Elsa had travelled to Fulham from Arendelle and listening with interest to the story about her having had to go on a plane.

In reality, Elsa was the lovely Georgia from Especially for You Parties, and in addition to being Elsa she is an actor who happens to live a short walk away. We had been offered the Elsa appearance to review, and Georgia was a huge hit with the three to five-year-old partygoers.

I had suggested Elsa could arrive while the girls were eating, and then lead everyone back to the sitting room. She came with her own music and sang Let it Go with actions, getting the girls involved in both singing and dancing with her. The 30-minute appearance option worked well at Big Girl’s party as a special surprise in her magic show and disco party.

The next day I received text messages and emails from several mums, saying their girls had loved meeting Elsa.

I think Georgia was great at getting the girls involved in Let it Go, and Big Girl was thrilled to receive a birthday tiara from her. Georgia was also a believable Elsa, as she had blonde hair and didn’t need a wig, and the dress was as pretty and sparkly as expected.

The other party we attended with Especially for You Parties was led by Superwoman, who entertained the children with a variety of party games, and Especially for You Parties also offers 1-hour and 2-hour party packages with one or two entertainers.

A 30-minute character appearance is £100, and a 1-hour party with one entertainer is £155.
