0Review: Hello Kitty Live for an interactive and girly feel-good show
‘I don’t have to wish for these for Christmas, Mummy!’
Baby Girl was pointing at some brand new bright red and blue Hello Kitty England socks, which she had put on before going to bed. They were the last thing we picked up from the merchandise stall at Hello Kitty Live at Eventim Apollo Hammersmith on Thursday.
We had received tickets to the show and decided to make an exception and stay up late with Baby Girl to see the life-sized Hello Kitty and her friends, as the Hello Kitty tour hit London.
The show tells the story of Hello Kitty being under pressure to come up with new designs for a fashion show she and her friends put on as part of a competition. It’s all about following your dreams, supporting friends, working as a team, and believing in yourself. In other words, it’s all good advice for children and even lines like “trust your instinct” could sound a tad cliche, both the story and characters are very sweet.
The interactive and girly feel-good show gets fans up on their feet, and Baby Girl was determined to get up dancing every time Hello Kitty showed off her moves to well-known pop songs. After close to two hours of this–and a very cool plane take-off towards the end–I’m not surprised I returned home with an overly excited three-year-old who was talking non-stop.
The night we went out in the dark with her friends and saw Hello Kitty Live is most definitely a night she’ll remember.
Hello Kitty Live is on tour at the moment and returns to the UK in winter 2016. The Wimbledon show on 22 October has been rescheduled
