Review: Kipling Fast backpack for starting nursery

It seems like we’ve had more than long enough to prepare for going back to school this year. With a husband at work and a newborn and a preschooler on holiday with me, it was pretty tempting to start counting down the days for nursery school to reopen after the summer.

But unlike previous years we had the nametags for clothes ready, we had the must-have drawstring bag with name embroidered on it, and overall we felt pretty well-prepared. At least after receiving a new Kipling Fast backpack (£45) with eyes and ears to review too.

I remember having a Kipling crinkled nylon fabric pencil case with the brand’s recognisable monkey key-hanger when I was in school, and that’s why I thought it was particularly fun to see the new Kipling Back to School collection this year.

For nursery school, the must-have back to school accessory is typically a backpack. We have a tendency to fill a backpack each morning with everything from an Elsa princess dress to a book about becoming a big sister. To get us out of the house in the morning, I agree to pack everything Baby Girl decides to grab on the way out into a backpack.

When Baby Boy is ready to go to nursery too, I’m sure I’ll do the same for him, and his toys can then go in his new denim blue Kipling monkey backpack with eyes and ears, a zipped main compartment with an interior zipped pocket, and a zip pocket at the front. With chunky zippers, practical compartments, a fun design and hard-wearing crinkled nylon fabric, I think the Fast backpack can be a good choice for little ones.

I remember a friend who works with young children once told me it’s amazing how much difference a pack of stick-on eyes can make when doing art projects, and after receiving the Fast backpack, I would say it must be the same for backpacks. Eyes are fab!
