0Review: Little London book for active London families
Last week I considered taking Baby Girl to see the Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race, but I had no idea the Oxford v Cambridge Race we should have been to see was nowhere near Richmond and Barnes. It was in Spitalfields, and it had little to do with boating.
After receiving a sample copy of Little London (Virgin Books, £12.99)–a new hardcover guide book by Kate Hodges and Sunshine Jackson featuring free and affordable activities for children in London–I found out there was an Oxford v Cambridge Goat Race at Spitalfields City Farm at the same time as the boat race.
The book is filled with innovative and exciting ideas for what to do with children in London throughout the year, and even though I know London pretty well, the fun things to do in the book kept surprising me.
I had never heard about London being the location of the world’s biggest pillow fight, and I’d never considered taking Baby Girl on a cable car ride across the Thames. We might have to venture outside our favourite South West London postcodes to do many of the activities we’ve now learnt about, but now that she’s getting older it’s easier to get around.
I like the fact that the book is split into monthly sections, and I can see myself skimming through a chapter at the beginning of the month to ensure we don’t miss out on anything fun, such as West End Kids Week in August.
The book is very informative, and I think it would make a wonderful gift to a mum or nanny in need of new ideas for how to keep the little ones entertained.
Even mums who think they know it all, are sure to find something new in Little London.
