0Review: One, Two, Tree puzzle from Orchard Toys for practising counting and number recognition
A year ago I was surprised when I met London mums who came across as incredibly focused on educational toys, buying anything from pegs to help little ones build up wrist strength to support early writing or books for teaching young children to read. Then Big Girl reached the age of three and I was ready to start shopping too.
I realised we could have all the dress-up costumes and Minnie toys she loved, but we could of course also benefit from more puzzles and toys designed to help her learn numbers and letters through play. That’s when I started buying more toys from Orchard Toys, many of which are available to add on to a weekly Ocado shopping.
Orchard Toys has a wide selection of puzzles and games, and I received One, Two, Tree, a large 30-piece number puzzle with a poster to review. I chose this for review as I think puzzles with 20-30 pieces can be ideal for preschoolers, and large pieces make a puzzle particularly fun at this age.
One, Two, Tree (£9.75) is an animal-themed number puzzle, featuring numbers 1-10 and 10 different groups of animals to count next to each number. The large pieces are easy to hold for little hands, and Big Girl can do the colourful puzzle on her own, making it good for getting a sense of achievement.
At the same time, we can talk about numbers to practise number recognition when doing this puzzle, and I can ask her to count the groups of animals. For mums who are shopping for toys to practise numbers with animal-loving young children this week, I think One, Two, Tree from Orchard Toys makes a good buy.
Happy counting!
