Review: Orchard Toys Mini Games for on-the-go entertainment

When I was reading through old draft posts I found one from a few years ago where I’d written that I’d spent an Easter counting a set of 32 penguins at least once every day. The Orchard Toys Penguin Pair game, which we’d then received to review, had become a travel favourite with both four-year-old Big Girl, who loved playing memory games, and our toddler who liked sorting.

This year, we’ve received two new Orchard Toys Mini Games to review – Build a Beetle (£5) and Little Bus Lotto (£5) – and we’ve also bought several of the other games from the series. The games come in compact packaging, making them ideal for carrying around in a handbag, and we’ve been playing Orchard Toys mini games on planes, sun beds and in restaurants.

Back in London, I’m still regularly bringing mini games when being out and about with the children, and recently the whole family played Little Bus Lotto while enjoying a Sunday breakfast in Megan’s on the Green.

In addition to the practical packaging, I like that the games are traditional games with a twist, splash of colour and lots of fun animal-themed illustrations that appeal to children.

I think Build a Beetle can be useful for developing number recognition from 1-6, and building the beetle is a bit like putting together a puzzle. The Bus Lotto is good for matching and memory skills, and it can be an entertaining game to play for young and old!
