0Review: Robotic Kitty Christmas gift idea for over 5s
‘There’s a mouse here!’
‘Where did you see a mouse?’
‘There!’
Daddy T and I came running after Baby Girl. I really did not like the idea of a mouse in the living room, and I tried to push Daddy T in first to see it. But the mouse Baby Girl was pointing at was a bit different from what I had pictured. It was a white robot mouse with eyes lighting up when pushing a button.
‘It’s Kitty’s mouse!’
Baby Girl continued to point at the mouse, belonging to the Kitty toy by Teksta, which we had received from Debenhams to review. The robotic kitten, aimed at children aged 5 years and over, comes with a little mouse toy for Kitty to play with, and it can be trained to do different tricks. Kitty responds to voice, lights and sounds with expressive eye patterns to share her feelings, and she meows and purrs like real kittens. There are more then 100 play features, so the opportunities for teaching and playing with Kitty appear to be endless.
For Baby Girl, however, it’s simply been exciting to see Kitty roaming around the living room floor and making funny noises when we stroke her head, but I could see older girls getting more into the training opportunities for this toy. In fact, I remember a family Christmas party last year when an 8-year-old cousin’s favourite Christmas present had been a similar style robotic toy, and the children played with this non-stop. Kitty is a brilliant girly version, as it’s sweet and seem more like a techie pet than a scary robot. This and Kitty’s Dalmatian puppy friend are bound to be popular Christmas presents!
Kitty is available from Debenhams (£60)
