0Review: Silk baby blanket from Cliffton Silk Gifts for keeping baby warm and preventing allergies
The first time I heard about the benefits of silk I was at Corinthia Hotel London for a press breakfast with celebrity Patsy Kensit. She mentioned her silk pillowcase was her top beauty secret, and with me having a very limited beauty regime, I could see the bonus of keeping the skin glowing by using something that really required minimum effort.
Four-month-old Baby Boy may have a more advanced beauty regime than me with his creams and oils, but it doesn’t mean that he couldn’t do with some silk too. That’s why I was excited to receive a beautiful hand-crocheted baby blanket in 100% mulberry silk from British Cliffton Silk Gifts, a company owned by a friend’s mum.
The cream-coloured blanket, which is hypoallergenic and chemical free, feels soft and good quality, making it a true baby keepsake. I’ve never seen a baby blanket in silk before, but I know silk is often used in thermal wear too, as it’s ideal for regulating body temperature, and I can see it makes complete sense to use silk for keeping baby at the right temperature to create a safe sleep environment.
The silk baby blanket (£70) from Cliffton Silk Gifts is 92 x 87 cm, so it can be used for keeping baby warm in a Moses basket, cot bed, or on the go in the pram. The website is not a good representation of the quality of the product, which I’ve been really impressed with, and I also think the blanket is reasonably priced at £70, considering the work that has gone into making it.
Brilliant British craftsmanship!
Cliffton Silk Gifts also offers silk baby bedding, as well as silk products for grown-ups, such as silk eye masks and silk pillowcases.
