Review: The Grinch for a laugh-out-loud funny family Christmas film

‘I love that little girl!’

Last weekend we had been invited to a preview screening of The Grinch and I’m not surprised three-year-old Big Boy found a girl he liked. It was Cindy Lou – one of the adorable main characters who’s Christmas wish is for Santa to make her mum’s life easier.

The likeable girl is just one of the many reasons we absolutely loved this colourful animation presented by Illumination and Universal Pictures and based on Dr. Seuss’ beloved Christmas classic.

The film tells the story about a grumpy – but also cuddly and green–Grinch who despises Christmas and tries to escape it by staying put in his home during the festive season.

The Grinch and his loyal dog Max lives outside Whoville, a town that truly embraces Christmas and plans to make Christmas even bigger and better this year.

The charming winter town-featuring some pretty cool commute options in the film-is also where Cindy Lou lives with her mum and little brothers, and all she wants to do is meet Santa to tell him her wish in person.

At the same time, the Grinch has decided he wants to put an end to Christmas and is hatching a cruel plan.

Along the way there’s a funny reindeer, some crazy gadgets, an over-sized Christmas tree and a seriously Christmassy house. The film had me laugh and cry, and I’m not surprised Big Boy ended the film by asking: ‘Can I see Mr Grinch again?’

I’ve already recommended many friends to go see this hilarious family Christmas film bringing both Christmas spirit with a message about love and kindness and lots of giggles and laughter.

Bring on Christmas!

The Grinch is now out in cinemas
