0Review: the sun mousse for getting children ready for sunny London days
‘I got this in the sun!’
Baby Girl was super excited. She was pointing at a teeny tiny mole, and suddenly seemed to remember that I had once told her I had lots of moles because of sun exposure. It must have seemed like a competition to her, but I certainly don’t want her to struggle with the same skin problems as me, and I try to do everything I can to protect her in the sun.
I’m thrilled there are so many good suncare products aimed at children these days, and the products available to parents now have clearly advanced since I was little.
The latest one we’ve tried, which I received to review, is the brand new the sun mousse. This range, which includes two kids products suitable for children aged 1 and over, offers fun and practical sun protection in the form of non-sticky and non-greasy mousse. The texture is like a light hair mousse, and has amused Baby Girl and friends she’s had over trying it out. It’s easy to apply, and it feels like a smooth sun cream when rubbing it on. Although we’ve only been using it for play in the garden, I’m sure it will be brilliant to use in water too, as it rapidly absorbs into the skin and feels long-lasting.
I also like that the sun mousse products are free from parabens, colourings and perfume. I’ve found that it’s not always easy to find sun creams free from these ingredients available from big retailers–particularly not if you’re like me and would have preferred buying sun cream in the airport before going on holiday. That’s why it’s important to plan ahead instead when buying sun cream for young children though, and in my view, it tends to be easier to buy the best products for delicate skin online or from independent pharmacies or shops.
The sun mousse range (from £19.99) is available to buy from Hunter & Heath, and the mousse comes in SPFs 20, 30, 50, Kids 30 and Kids 50.
