Getting ready for Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day

The other day I texted a picture of my shopping basket to friends. It was not filled with my usual style of clothes. This time it was all about novelty jumpers with pom poms, glitter, Christmas puddings or reindeer motifs. I’m getting the whole family ready for a London Christmas–and we’ve finally caught onto the Christmas jumper trend.

I was feeling particularly inspired after receiving a Christmas Jumper Day pack from Save the Children with a WHSmith Christmas Jumper Day Bear sporting a festive knit designed by a competition winner and a kitsch Save the Children charity tote bag with a bulldog Christmas jumper image.

Big Boy has been carrying the teddy he received around and taking it to nursery, constantly reminding us that Christmas Jumper Day is fast approaching. Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day is on Friday 15 December, and everyone can join in by wearing a festive knit, signing up and donating £2 to Save the Children at christmasjumperday.org to help ‘make the world better with a sweater’.

In addition to the WHSmith Christmas Jumper Day Bear and Save the Children charity totes, there are also a range of other feel-good gifts that support Save the Children. My favourite is the Save the Children x Selfish Mother collaboration – a range of Christmas sweaters available from The FMLY Store, which I’ve shopped from before too.

Selfish Mother and a host of celebrities have teamed up and created a range of adult and kids Christmas jumpers that all carry a 50% donation to Save the Children. There are unisex red, grey and black crew-neck and scoop-neck sweatshirts with different text. (See the ‘All that Glitters’ Sweatshirt by Poppy Delevingne pictured.) True feel good fashion.

The WHSmith Christmas Jumper Day Bears are £4.99 with £1 donated to Save the Children for every bear sold, and the Save the Children Charity Tote bags are £6 and all the money goes directly to Save the Children. The Save the Children x Selfish Mother adult jumpers are £50 and the kids jumpers are £25, and 50% goes to Save the Children.
