Stunning hotels for family weekend breaks near London

We love going on weekend breaks to the country, but when travelling with Baby Girl in tow it’s not ideal to plan for long car journeys. That’s why I asked family-travel expert Julia Andrei from Smith & Family, a collection of family-friendly hotels with style, about the best hotels near London – and we’ve stayed in several of the properties she suggests, so I can confirm she has good taste!

Q: Can you recommend some family-friendly hotels relatively close to London?
A: I’ve picked three charming country hotels. Coworth Park (see picture above)– a 45-minute drive from London – looks like a Jane Austen setting. Its kids club and 240 acres of grounds provide ample distraction for the little ones, whereas parents can enjoy the eco-friendly spa and top-flight dining.

Cotswolds stay Calcot Manor (see picture of room above), a two-hour drive from the capital, is renowned for its excellent childcare and huge family rooms; all baby-kit essentials are covered too.

And if you want to stay in a treehouse, check in to Chewton Glen for incredible sky-high suites.
