0Stylish summer accessories for kids in London
The scarf
Earlier this spring I suddenly noticed Baby Girl was one of few turning up to nursery on a chilly morning with a merino wool scarf. I was wearing a cotton summer scarf with a floral print myself, but I didn’t have anything similar for her. That’s why I loved the selection of stylish summer scarves from Four Fairies and a Prince when I visited the pop-up shop, and I was thrilled when the lovely ladies at this childrenswear online shop with Scandinavian and Dutch brands surprised me with a grey and pink butterfly print scarf (£16) for Baby Girl as a thank you gift. The scarf seems to go with everything in Baby Girl’s wardrobe, and she wears it every morning now. Exactly what she needs to keep snug, but still dress for the season!
The sunglasses
When Baby Girl was born some friends in the know gave her a pair of Babiators size 0-3 years with 100% UVA and UVB protection, and they were ideal for use on Baby Girl’s first holiday in Florida at the age of 4 months. Eventually she started taking sunglasses off, and I tried a variety of brands but never found any others we liked. I think Babiators are ideal for children, as they are safe and have flexible frames, so they don’t break when children bend them. They also look super stylish and don’t fall off when Baby Girl, who now wears size 3-7 years, is running around.
The snack box
In May I started spotting Fulham mums with glass baby bottles with colourful silicone sleeves from Lifefactory, a brand I was first introduced to at Babylist in Chelsea. When I asked sole UK distributor of Lifefactory A Hip Kid to review the product, which I think is the hottest baby bottle on the market now as parents become more aware of the benefits of glass, I was also sent a practical glass container with a purple silicone sleeve (£11.99). The food storage box is not only ideal for storing leftovers or heating in a microwave (without lid) in glass instead of plastic, but it also works brilliantly as a snack box on the go despite clearly weighing more than plastic containers. Baby Girl loves the bright colour, and I like that it fits the sliced vegetables and fruit and couple of rice cakes I take to the park for her to eat in between nursery and tennis training. Cool and functional!
