0Surviving the first few weeks of pregnancy
When I was walking around Sloane Square a few hours after I’d found out I was pregnant with a second baby, it hadn’t quite sunk in yet. Before taking the test, I had felt so sure I was pregnant, but now it just felt strange.
I had assumed I would have wanted to tell friends immediately that I was pregnant the second time around, as I found the first 12 weeks so hard last time when we kept the pregnancy a secret. But although I was dying to tell someone, it still felt a bit awkward to share the news with friends in the first couple of weeks after I found out myself.
The good news was that I had a host of medical professionals to tell, as I had mentioned the wish to become pregnant again to a number of them.
I could text my wonderful GP Dr David Smart with the news. I could text the lovely Vicki Scott, who is a midwife and founder of New Baby Company, and I could go see the brilliant acupuncturist Emma Cannon. I could call my favourite obstetrician’s secretary to book in with him, and I could email the fantastic doctor who had invited us for a dinner party the next day.
If all you want is to share the great news of pregnancy with someone, it helps to have a strong network of friendly faces in the London healthcare industry. Love London!
