Taking the family ice skating in Regatta Great Outdoors winter wear

tine-ice-skating-natural-history-museumThis Christmas 18-month-old Baby Boy has started picking up new words, and one of his best words is now ‘ice’.

It’s pretty appropriate as it’s something we’ve talked about every day this Christmas. We’ve played with Big Girl’s new Our Generation ice cream truck and we’ve gone ice skating.

Even Baby Boy has hit the ice. He tried ice skating for the very first time on Boxing Day when we had a brilliant family day out with Regatta Great Outdoors.

We had received brand new winter jackets and gilets and drove over to the Natural History Museum for an ice skating session. We weren’t the only family out that day though and I was surprised at how our morning session was packed with families.

The penguin skate aids were sold out by the time we got there, but for Baby Boy it was more about having a quick try and being held by us. For four-year-old Big Girl I think it was good to try skating without a skate aid for once, as she has snow tried the skate aids several times and may be ready to go without too.

regatta-great-outdoors-aptitude-jacketI was impressed with how Big Girl had made progress from our first time at the ice rink at Natural History Museum two weeks earlier, and it felt really refreshing to be outside doing a fun winter activity with the whole family.

The Regatta outfits were also very fitting. Daddy T and I had chosen the Icebound black gilets (Was £50, Now £24.95), as I could see us using these for layering. They don’t feel bulky and can easily be used paired with other black outerwear. On Boxing Day the weather was good enough for the gilets to keep us warm on the ice, and we both wore the black lightweight down gilets on their own with wool jumpers underneath.

Big Girl had received the Regatta Aptitude Jacket Viola Juniper (Was £70, Now £34.95), which features waterproof and breathable fabric, thermo-guard insulation and large zipped pockets. The kids jacket is not chunky, making it ideal for sports and being active outdoors.

Exactly what I want for 2017!

The men’s black Icebound Gilet is black on the inside too, while the women’s black Icebound Gilet features a deep turquoise colour on the inside
