0Decorating a girly nursery
It is said that pregnant women often become very creative. For me, my creativity has mostly been geared towards convincing Daddy T that Baby Girl will practically not survive if we don’t buy her a cute Paul Smith winter coat and a second hooded Juicy Couture track suit.
But more recently, I’ve also used my creativity to get the nursery ready for Baby Girl. I first had to find a new home for Daddy T’s red and blue Lexington cushions, which used to be in the guest room. After they were moved along with the rest of the room’s maritime décor, I could start filling the blank walls, sticking to my new grey and pink colour theme.
I picked up new cushions from The White Company and my absolute favourite children’s interior design shop, Bobo Kids in Chelsea.
I bought child-friendly non-toxic paint from an art shop, painted a cartoon-like motif on a large canvas, and commissioned Grandma N to paint another similar type of artwork.
I photographed Baby Girl’s new teddy bear and plush rabbit, ordered large prints and framed the photos.
I went online and ordered more wall art from the children’s online shop My Little Square.
And Daddy T helped too. He installed floating shelves and a smoke-detector, and checked that the walls were painted in lead-free paint.
Baby Girl can now enter the world knowing that she will have her own safe, but girly room. I’m sure she’s lying in her fluid thinking about how excited she is to see this masterpiece in a weeks’ time.
