0The emotional side of sending baby to nursery
I’m not sure which one of us has been the most emotional this week. Baby Girl and I have both survived the first week at nursery–but not completely without tears.
On Thursday, I had planned for Baby Girl to try having her lunchtime nap at nursery for the first time, but Baby Girl hadn’t eaten much of her lunch and was refusing to lie down on her mattress like her other little friends. Her nursery teacher called to report on the progress, and I decided to run over and collect my little star almost two hours earlier than planned.
But when we left nursery, Baby Girl was not the one with tears in her eyes. I was handed her school bag with notes about what she had been up to in the three half-day sessions she had done this week. As soon as I noticed her teacher had written that Baby Girl had been “exploring the room confidently” the tears came running down my cheeks.
It was practically like Baby Girl had won an Oscar. Reading about her big achievement made me feel like an extremely proud mummy.
