Celebrate new Disney Junior series The Lion Guard with fun activities at Westfield

Bunga's Hyena Lair Dare‘Westfield! Hurrah!’

Three-year-old Big Girl had been excited about returning to Westfield as soon as I’d mentioned we could go there for a new The Lion Guard experience, and when we arrived yesterday she started running across the atrium in the shopping centre as soon as she spotted the familiar logo.

The free Lion Guard experience at Westfield, which is designed for children aged two to seven and celebrates the launch of the new Disney Junior TV series released in the UK on Wednesday, is impossible to miss. There’s now a large Disney-themed activity area near the Snog frozen yoghurt bar and opposite Boots, and little ones can take part and test if they have the same skills as the members of Kion’s Lion Guard.

We had been invited to visit yesterday, and Big Girl dived in by showing bravery when sticking her hand into different compartments to feel toy creepy crawlies in honey badger Bunga’s Hyena Lair Dare. The next challenge was an iPad activity, where she helped Kion collect his friends, and after that she could take a place at a table where there were face masks and colour-in sheets.

Lion Guard Craft StationMy favourite activity was Kion’s roar challenge, where we stood with our claws out and tried to roar as loud as only Kion can do. The practise we’d done at home didn’t quite shine through though, so Big Girl and I teamed up and roared together to make the special badge appear on Kion.

We then did some running and posing in a fun digital adventure, and Big Girl received a special photograph of herself to take home. For little ones who are already excited about the sweet and fast-paced The Lion Guard series, the free Westfield experience makes for a fun family activity to do in between running errands or enjoying other activities at the shopping centre. It doesn’t take very long to go through, and when we went at around 2pm on Friday there was no queue.

At busy times it’s possible to collect a ticket and return for a specific time slot, and I was advised it was best to come before 3.30pm to secure a time. The experience is open until Thursday 21, and the opening times are 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday.

The Lion Guard is now showing on Disney Junior on Wednesdays at 5.30pm
