The question about thumbs and dummies
Baby Girl has a new favourite toy, and it’s always with her. It’s her thumb. Or in fact, her two thumbs.
She’s found her thumbs exciting for almost four weeks now. It all started when she was 16-weeks old, and since then she’s seemed a lot more fascinated with them than with her dummies.
When I first noticed, I took out the camera. I think it looks cute when she sucks her tiny thumb. But when I showed Grandma N, who is a dentist, she was way more skeptical. She agreed Baby Girl looked cute, but she was worried about all the things I hadn’t even considered.
For her, it was all about teeth and breaking the bad habit at the right age. Apparently, Baby Girl will not look cute sucking her thumb when she gets old. It will look weird – and weird with teeth in the wrong position is not an image Baby Girl is planning to go for. I’ll clearly start dishing out dummies from now on.
