Review: Tiny Tears Classic doll for a likeable little friend

Tiny Tears Doll ReviewThe other week we had an extra little one with us on the school run. Big Girl kept calling her Twinkle and several mums recognised her from their own childhood.

It was the Tiny Tears doll–a classic interactive doll that has been popular throughout several generations. Four-year-old Big Girl had received the doll, which now comes in a special floral print dress, to review and was very excited to show her the way to her school.

Twinkle looked excited too–albeit a little bit cold in her summer dress and pink hair band. It is, however, easy to see why girls continue to love her friendly face and thick blonde hair. I think she looks like a cute toddler, placing her in between the newborn baby dolls and the older fashion dolls with more grown-up looks and accessories.

Tiny Tears has the hair, which Big Girl loves styling and putting up with her own hair clips, and she also comes with her own potty, bottle, hair brush and dummy. When Big Girl plays with her, she pretends ‘Twinkle’ is an older sister to her baby dolls with no hair.

The Tiny Tears doll (£19.99) with closing eyes is still little though, appealing to girls who like pretending to be the mum to their dolls. She also stands out because she can drink real water from her bottle and then go on her potty, a feature I know we’ll use when we’ll soon start introducing 20-month-old Baby Boy to the concept of potty training.

I find the accessories that comes with the Tiny Tears doll are basic in terms of the look and design, but the fact they’re included mean the doll comes as a complete set, ready for hours of imaginative play, and it seems good value to me.

I like that the new patterned dress has velcro fastening and is easy to take on and off for little hands and that the set also includes pull-up pants. The new version of the doll, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, has longer hair too.

A likeable sister with a nice smile!

Tiny Tears Classic Doll is 38cm high and recommended for children aged 3 to 6
