05 top Easter half-term activities for children in London
Peter Rabbit Icing Party at Biscuiteers
Head to one of the lovely Biscuiteers boutiques and cafes in Notting Hill or on Northcote Road (see picture above) on Thursday 2 April between 2 and 5 for a Beatrix Potter-themed kids icing party. There will be Beatrix Potter biscuit icing, face painting and storytelling, and tickets are £15 per child for a one-hour session. Biscuiteers also run the icing café daily in both boutiques, and Easter is in full swing with daily Peter Rabbit hunts over the school holidays.
My First Ballet: Swan Lake at The Peacock Theatre
The English National Ballet and English National Ballet School have collaborated on a production of Swan Lake to introduce young children to classical ballet. The My First Ballet production features a narrator to help the young audience follow the story, and I think it sounds like a wonderful performance for anyone who have little ballet fans at home. My First Ballet: Swan Lake is showing at The Peacock Theatre near Aldwych from 2-12 April, and the running time is 1 hour and 25 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.
Creepy crawlies at Chelsea Physic Garden
Chelsea Physic Garden is hosting several family activity days this half term, and on Thursday April 16 there’s a creepy crawlies day for children aged 4 and over. There will be two sessions – one from 10.30-12 and one from 1-2 – where Vic Taylor from Mynewt Enterprises will show little ones his fun animal collection, including a hissing cockroach, giant millipede, corn snake, giant African snail and Mr. Jelly Belly the tree frog. Tickets can be booked online and are priced at £9.90 for adults and £6.60 for children. There is a limited number of children’s tickets available for each session.
Easter festivities at Cupcake Family Club
Cupcake Family Club in Parsons Green is hosting an Easter afternoon on Wednesday 1 April from 3-5, where there will be bunny-themed activities, including lots of arts and crafts. Tickets to the event are £15 for non-members.
Easter quiz at Inn The Park
For families wanting to do some sightseeing or enjoy the capital’s parks this Easter, Inn The Park makes for a great place to stop for a bite in St James’s Park near Buckingham Palace. The restaurant with views of the park has created an Easter quiz for children of all age groups (but under 5s will probably need some help from parents), which has been designed to entertain children while parents unwind. There will be chocolatey prizes for all children taking part.
