0Surviving travelling when potty training
Before having children myself I have a feeling I would’ve been a bit worried if I’d been seated next to a toddler and a mum carrying around a potty when travelling.
But in the autumn I was that mum. I had my Goyard bag on one arm and a canvas bag with a BabyBjorn smart potty on the other. It was only two weeks after I had started potty training Baby Girl, and I was not going to take any risks when flying alone with her.
She hadn’t had any accidents, but we’d also had the convenience of getting to a loo quickly when we’d wanted to. On a plane, that’s simply not always possible if it’s midst take-off, for example, and in airports it might be far to walk to toilets.
Having the potty in the canvas bag made me feel much better about these potential challenges. I wasn’t sure exactly where I was planning on having the potty, but it was more about having it with us. It meant we had an emergency solution for the car too, and if Baby Girl suddenly were to decide she didn’t like some public toilets.
Travelling with a recently potty trained two-year-old can feel quite stressful–at least for mum!
