0Treating sticky eyes
When Grandpa P heard how snotty Baby Girl was yesterday, he told me to make sure she didn’t touch her nose and eyes and risk infecting her eyes. He clearly has very high expectations of Baby Girl.
The first thing Baby Girl does when she’s starting to feel tired is to rub her eyes. It’s impossible to tell my seven-month old to keep germs away and stop touching her eyes.
In fact, Grandpa P’s advice also came five days too late. Baby Girl already has sticky eyes. When we were in the Cotswolds it got so bad it looked like she was struggling to open her eyes after one of her daytime naps.
I was instantly texting her favourite paediatrician Dr Kingi Aminu for advice, and Baby Girl’s eyes have now almost cleared. She had sticky eyes when she was a newborn too, so it was the second time we needed help with this.
At first, I was wiping her eyes with cooled boiled water or breastmilk. But both times, we’ve ended up having to use eye ointment for a couple of days too. Anything to help Baby Girl.
