0Visiting Hobbledown Children’s Farm
‘Do you want to go see a bunny?’
Bunny?
Baby Girl looked at me before she ran to the door to put her shoes on.
It was 8.30 in the morning on a Sunday, and we were getting ready to go to Hobbledown farm and adventure park in Epsom, which we had been invited to visit.
When we arrived after a 30-minute drive, we all put on our wellies. It was grey and rainy outside, but we were determined to have a fantastic family day out.
The good news was that after a short tour of some goats, parrots, meerkats and their other animal friends in the park, we realised everyone else arriving at Hobbledown in the rain seemed to head straight for the barn.
Brilliant choice. The barn turned out to be a massive indoor play zone, including a special toddler soft play section. Daddy T and I took turns to run around the maze with Baby Girl, who didn’t seem to tire of the fun slides and tunnels, and we stayed inside for at least an hour.
Before heading back out, we each had a hot chocolate and felt ready to go out in the cold. That’s when we discovered the gigantic, award-winning outdoor play area and the lovely sand play zone, which we will most definitely come back for another time.
Hobbledown is a farm park with a theme park feel, as it is well-designed and looks very professional. It might not seem as ‘local’ as some other farm parks, but it has excellent play areas, which are great fun for children, and we also liked the nice-looking wooden houses built for the animals.
Since Hobbledown is so close to central London, it is an ideal destination for a family day out, and the 9am opening on a Sunday is an added bonus for families with early-risers. Getting some fresh air and visiting a farm at that time seemed like a pleasant alternative to queuing for breakfast at Granger & Co. Living the varied life!
