What to include in instructions to babysitters

Vintage baby buggy with baby playing with its sockBefore leaving Baby Girl with Grandpa P and Grandma N an afternoon a few weeks ago, I checked their knowledge on choking and demonstrated what to do in the event of an emergency. Before leaving Baby Girl with her babysitter on Saturday night, I informed her about three red spots I had noticed on Baby Girl’s face that had concerned me.

But Baby Girl had managed to eat her vegetable puree and fruit smoothie without choking, and the spots were most likely a couple of tiny scratch marks that had disappeared the next day.

Go Baby Girl. Her not even making a squeak when we have a babysitter might make me feel a tiny bit stupid for leaving all sorts of irrelevant instructions, but she’s also slowly giving me more confidence. I know she’s growing up and doing well, potentially making it easier to reduce the number of pages with babysitter-notes at some point in the future.

I have never thought of leaving notes for babysitters! (Mostly because the babysitters are family). Its a good idea, probably gives more comfort to parents than to the safety of the baby but its still something! 🙂

Perhaps it’s just me! I ramble off a long list of instructions before I leave, and I often write a note with bullet points and I put our phone numbers at the top in big writing 🙂

It is essential that you be at ease with ones babysitter’s way of childcare.
