When baby stops crying when being picked up at nursery

Nursery drawstring bagShe did it. She did it. It took Baby Girl four and a half weeks and 14 sessions, but finally she did it. My little star gave me a big smile when I came to pick her up from nursery.

Every other day I’ve seen that she’s been perfectly happy when I’ve come to pick her up, but as soon as she’s seen me she’s started crying.

Not what I expected.

In fact, I’ve found her reaction to be a little bit upsetting.

But now I know why 13-month old Baby Girl has given me all these tears in the past weeks. I guess she just wanted me to feel extra special when she did decide to smile. And I did – particularly because she also came over and gave me a big hug.

She’s made my week. Yet again.

Both my girls did this! I used to peek at them for a few minutes so I could enjoy seeing them happy before they spotted me! I used to think the crying was the shock they felt when they suddenly realised I had been gone–and they’d been fine! She’s growing up! My eldest is just starting going for sleepovers!

How funny that yours were the same! The other children in Baby Girl’s nursery don’t seem to do it, but the teachers keep telling me her reaction is normal. I’ve kept thinking she’s wanted to make me feel bad for leaving her.. But now we’ve managed a couple of days with no crying at pick-up time, so hope it’s all less stressful from now on. A smile is a million times better!
