0When it’s time to build a playhouse in a London garden
There’s a reason why I’m walking around indoors in a jacket and scarf. It’s incredibly cold in our house, but there’s nothing wrong with the heating. The radiators just don’t have the same effect when the doors leading out to the garden are always open.
Baby Girl has completely lost interest in being inside when we’re at home, and she’s learnt how to unlock and open the door herself, making it very easy to access her new favourite place–a pink playhouse placed in the garden.
Daddy T and Grandpa P built the brand new playhouse the other day, and it’s been a huge hit with 25-month-old Baby Girl. I wish we’d had it at the start of the summer as I’ve been looking for more ways to encourage Baby Girl to spend time outdoors, but I can see her having fun in her new house for years to come.
It’s not any playhouse. It was a pre-packaged playhouse from Garden Games, which is meant to take 40 minutes to put together. It comes with a lot of fun features, such as a door sign, windows to open and close, a postbox and window boxes.
Grandpa P has customised it with a door bell, garden shed felt to protect the roof, flowers in the window boxes and a coat hook and clock inside. He’s also built a platform of timber and decking for the house to stand on to get it off the artificial grass, and leftover wood from the platform has been used to make a table and shelf.
Inside we’ve placed Baby Girl’s purple Fermob Luxembourg kids chair and two new pink stools from IKEA, which are suitable for outdoor use.
I can’t wait to do more. Grandma N has been told to sew a cushion for the chair, and I’ll buy a small oilcloth for the table, which is quickly becoming a painting and drawing table.
It’s not just Baby Girl who loves the new garden building. None of us mind having it cold inside when we have such a cute house to look at in our garden.
