0Where to go on holiday with baby
When I was 8 months pregnant with Baby Girl, I went on a holiday booking frenzy. I was so ready for a holiday, and felt I needed a family trip to look forward to. Instead of waiting and seeing how we got on, we decided to dive straight in and book a few trips to destinations we felt were good to go with baby when she had taken her first three sets of immunisations.
I know many new parents are concerned about healthcare when travelling with a baby, so this week I was interested in hearing top tips for where to go with baby from family-travel expert Julia Andrei from Smith & Family, a collection of family-friendly hotels with style.
Q: For summer holidays with a baby, we prefer travelling to destinations where we’re guaranteed good healthcare in an emergency. Which hotels can you recommend where even the most hypochondriac parents will feel at ease?
A: I’d recommend going to a town- or city-centre hotel (or one just outside): the spectacular Finca Cortesin (see picture at the top) in Marbella is close to the coastal town of Estepona and it has excellent childcare.
Puglian stay Borgo Egnazia (see picture left) has a kids club, a packed activity programme, and a local doctor on-call at all times.
Families are also in good hands at Paradise Island Villas in Crete. Hands-on manager Eleni will happily share her local knowledge and can offer advice in the unlikely event of an emergency.
