Where to go to meet mums-to-be in South West London

If you’re pregnant and want to meet like-minded people, here are a few suggestions for where you can start hanging out:

Chelsea
Mermaid Maternity Retreat
As of this month, chic Mermaid Maternity Retreat on Kings Road have started holding coffee mornings in the restaurant (see picture above) for new mums and expectant mums every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-12. This will be a brilliant place for new mums to socialise and make new friends, and it will also give you an opportunity to find out more about the Mermaid relaunch. Mermaid will now offer bespoke pregnancy plans, new classes, exclusive retreats, such as a ‘Preparing for Parenting’ weekend, and more. Amazing place for mums-to-be!

Triyoga
When I was pregnant, I remember one of the places that kept being recommended to me was Triyoga on King’s Road. Since then, I’ve only visited the café at Triyoga, but I know several mums who’ve made new friends at Triyoga by going to pregnancy yoga or pilates classes or workshops.

Fulham
Harbour Club
Newly refurbished Harbour Club is much more than a tennis club and sports centre. It’s a popular Fulham hang-out for mums, and the large, welcoming restaurant is a fantastic place to make new friends with bumps or babies. The crèche, soft play area and new iPad and drawing zone make it easy for mums to socialise and rewind at Harbour Club.

Cupcake Family Club
I’ve long been coming to Cupcake Family Club for the New Baby Company monthly meet-ups, and I first started going to these when I was pregnant with Baby Girl. Although Cupcake Family Club is a members club, the café is also open to non-members when purchasing a £5 guest pass, which includes a hot drink. Adult exercise classes in the Slice Studios at Cupcake are also open to non-members, and the Maternally Fit classes, which are taught by physiotherapists, are designed for pregnant ladies and new mums.

Wandsworth
Vitality Centre
I was invited to try a massage at the Vitality Centre, a well-being centre in Wandsworth, earlier this week, and after the massage I could see that this seemed like an ideal place for Wandsworth mums and mums-to-be to meet new people. Gymboree Wandsworth is located on the ground floor, and when I visited there was a class in the exercise studio upstairs, and mums coming and going in the reception area. For expectant mothers, the Vitality Centre offers pregnancy yoga classes, birthing workshops and more. The centre benefits from experienced therapists, and an adjustable pregnancy massage couch with a hole for your bump.
