0Why child proofing with stair gates makes sense
‘We can’t put in stair gates for you, Tine’
After moving into a new house Daddy T and I’ve been discussing whether to put in stair gates or not.
Baby Girl is nearing two and is getting pretty good at walking up and down stairs and holding on to the rails
But I’m not practicing the same caution.
On Friday, I emailed Daddy T from the bottom of the stairs, where I was sitting with our laundry spread out behind me: ‘Subject: I’ve had a really bad fall’
I was in a rush and about to run down the stairs with all our laundry when I slipped on the carpet at the top of the stairs and fell on my back, sliding down to the bottom of the staircase and bumping arms, back and neck in the process.
Now that I’ve tested how much it hurts to fall down and how much it’s aching the next day, we will be getting those stair gates. Not for me, but for Baby Girl.
