0World’s largest LEGO Store opens on Leicester Square
Yesterday evening I surprised myself. I was standing in the rain, queuing to get into the hottest place on Leicester Square right now. The world’s largest LEGO Store, which officially opened at noon today.
I was soaking wet by the time we got in to the opening event last night, but it turned out to be worth the wait. Four-year-old Big Girl, who had used my coat as an umbrella, was thrilled to meet the store’s mascot, the tea-drinking British minifigure Lester, and see the massive LEGO builds.
There’s a life-sized tube carriage little ones can climb into, an underground map that lights up, a Big Ben that goes across the store’s two floors, and much more.
Shoppers can expect an extensive selection of LEGO building sets and LEGO accessories like key chains and drinking bottles, as well as a range of fun features not to be found in other toy shops. Big Girl dived straight into the minifigure building display, where she built three minifigures by choosing five pieces for each and putting them in a case we purchased for £4.99.
There’s also a pick-and-build wall, where visitors can create their own LEGO sets, and the shop features the first LEGO Mosaic Maker, where visitors can step into a photo booth that turns their photo into a personalised LEGO set with bricks and instructions – perhaps a potential Christmas present idea for LEGO-obsessed dads.
With giant-sized London-themed builds on display and unique building sets to create and buy, the LEGO Store on Leicester Square will be a fun destination for both young and old LEGO fans!
The new LEGO Store will be open 10am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 6pm on Sundays.
