1Worrying about baby’s weight gain
Our family is not in sync. Two of us are constantly eating fatty foods, while one of us is being extremely health-conscious, mainly sticking to milk, fruit and vegetables and not eating enough at all. Yesterday I realised this has to change.
Daddy T and I are not the ones who need more calories. Baby Girl is. She was weighed yesterday, and for the first time ever I got extremely worried about her weight. She’s always been at the top of the scale, steadily gaining weight. But now she hadn’t gained much at all in the last month.
She’s had an ear infection and a cold in the last weeks, and I was advised that it was not surprising that this will have affected her weight. It still got me worried though.
I had been stressed about the solids, but I hadn’t expected it to already be affecting her weight gain. I clearly need to step it up though. Baby Girl needs more fat.
I was advised to add cheese or milk, for example, to her purees to ensure she eats more calories even if she’s not taking large quantities. I’m not sure why I hadn’t thought about this before. I feel so bad. All the fat here has gone to me and Daddy T. Not fair.
I have heard this happens from time to time to kids who are fussy eaters. If the doctor said its explainable and that you should not worry – do not worry, it will get better 🙂
